La Plata, MD – Lucio Bianchi scored twice, including the winning goal in the game's 78th minute, as the Garrett College men's soccer team erased a 2-0 deficit Saturday afternoon while defeating host College of Southern Maryland, 3-2.
"This is an amazing win for the program," said GC head coach Jonathan Price of his first-year squad's first road victory. "I could not be prouder of this group of young men. We still have a lot of work to do to finish the season the right way, and we are excited for that opportunity."
Bianchi scored with less than three minutes left in the first half to pull the Lakers within 2-1, and then set up Darius Hamilton's tying goal in the game's 66th minute. Bianchi scored again unassisted less than 12 minutes later as the Lakers (5-6) won for the fifth time in their last nine matches.
GC goalkeeper Wyatt Hull stopped four of the six shots he faced to earn the win. The Lakers scored on three of their seven shots against CSM netminder Brandon Rollins.
Montgomery 7, GC 1
Rockville, MD – Oscar Alvarado-Celis scored three times, including the tie-breaking goal with less than 12 minutes left in the first half, to spark Montgomery College in last Thursday's win over the Lakers.
"We played very well against a quality Division 1 opponent," said GC head coach Jonathan Price. "We made some mistakes in the first half, but rebounded well and finished strong. We played all of our healthy players. Overall, we all gained some valuable experience."
GC grabbed a 1-0 lead on Darius Hamilton's goal off a Lucas Alonso feed in the game's 11th minute. The Raptors, however, tied the game 10 minutes later on Joshua Doffoh's goal, set up by Owen Laborde.
Alvarado-Celis scored the go-ahead goal off an Ethan Goldstone assist. He tallied again, converting a feed from Jacob Escobar (three assists), with just 12 seconds remaining in the opening half to give the Raptors a 3-1 lead.
Montgomery broke the game open with four second-half goals.
Wyatt Hull (six saves on nine shots) and James Helmintoller-Quantz (two saves on six shots) each played a half in goal for GC. The Raptors finished with a 15-2 edge in shots on goal.
GC 4, Catonsville 0
McHenry, MD – Darius Hamilton scored twice and assisted on a third goal last Tuesday as the Lakers notched their fourth win of their inaugural season.
Hamilton tallied twice in the game's first 28 minutes, the first goal off a Jeronimo Valencia feed and the second unassisted. Lucio Bianchi scored unassisted with 10 minutes left in the first half to give Garrett College a 3-0 lead.
Valencia capped the scoring with a goal less than five minutes into the second half off a Hamilton assist.
Wyatt Hull stopped all three Catonsville shots to pick up the shutout in goal for the Lakers, who finished with a 13-3 advantage in shots on goal. Garrett also dominated in corner kicks, 6-2.

La Plata, MD – Sara Allwin had a three-goal hat trick and Amber Jones scored twice Saturday as the College of Southern Maryland – ranked 17th in the latest national poll – blanked the Lady Lakers.
Kylie Smith earned the shutout for the Hawks. GC goalkeeper Ada White stopped 14 of 21 shots while defender Jorjalynn Ward, who spent 11 minutes in goal, stopped the three shots she faced.
"We're still competing over the full 90 minutes," said GC head coach Zach Ward. "I believe how we've competed the last few matches can help us navigate the final two regular-season matches."
Montgomery 5, GC 0
Rockville, MD – Juline Sonneveldt assisted on the Raptors' first three goals and scored their fourth last Thursday as Montgomery College broke up a scoreless tie with five second-half goals in a span of about 20 minutes.
We played with 11 players, but still made it difficult for Montgomery early," said GC head coach Zach Ward. "Jorjalynn Ward did a great job keeping us organized from her central defender position. The lack of legs got to us in the second half."
With the game still scoreless after more than 57 minutes, Sonneveldt set up goals by Darby Marshall (57:16), Katherine Yanez (66:23), and Lillia Erickson (69:25) before tallying herself at 75:20. Sarai Contreras capped the scoring 37 seconds after Sonneveldt's goal off an assist by Lindsay Lara-Cedilllo.
Ruby Lancaster earned the shutout for the Raptors. GC goalie Ada White finished with 22 saves.
Catonsville 3, GC 2
McHenry, MD – Gianna Barracato scored twice, Alexandra Wilson had a goal and an assist, and Haley Gordon finished with two assists last Tuesday for the Cardinals, who built an early 3-0 lead and then held off a strong Garrett College comeback attempt.
Riley Bernard and Liberty Sweitzer each scored goals for the Lady Lakers, who trailed 3-2 at the half.
"We weren't able to find that one chance to tie the game after halftime," lamented GC head coach Zach Ward.
Ada White finished with nine saves in 12 shots in goal for GC.
