Lakers get comeback win

After Seton Hill scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh to take a 5-2 lead it looked like the same old story for the Lakers finding ways to lose, but the Lakers rallied to score four times in the top of the eighth and one in the ninth to come away with a 7-5 win on the campus of Seton Hill University Wednesday afternoon. The Griffins opened up the scoring in the third with a run. The Lakers took the lead in the top of the fourth. Chance Moore reached on a two-base error by the third baseman to lead off the inning. After a single by Luis Rodriguez, Moore scored on an RBI groundout by Darrick Broadwater. Two batters later, Rodriguez scored on a double steal to give the Lakers a 2-1 lead. It would stay that until the four-run inning by Seton Hill in the seventh. In the top of the eighth after a strikeout, Tim Hanible single, Zach Hallenbeck, Brandon Lucas and Chance Moore all drew walks to score Hanible and make the score 5-3. Rodriguez had an infield single and after another strikeout, Brennan White had an infield single to tie the game at 5-5. Hector Garcia then laced a single to left field to give the Lakers a 6-5. Rodriguez was thrown out at the plate on the play to end the inning. After a shutout inning by Laker pitcher Malachi Webb in the eighth, the Lakers tacked on another run in the ninth. Tim Hanible was hit by a pitch, stole second, then scored on Hallenbeck's RBI single. Chance Moore came on in the ninth to record the save getting the first two outs, then giving up a double before a groundout to end the game. "We capitalized on their pitcher throwing strikes in the eighth. Hector came up with a big hit and Zach tacked on a run in the ninth to give us a two-run lead. Had a little trouble in the seventh but overall our pitchers did a great job and our defense was solid all day. Hector throwing out the leadoff man in the eighth trying to steal was a huge play as well", says Head Baseball Coach Eric Hallenbeck. The Lakers are now 6-13 and will be on the road again this weekend, playing Friday @ Scotland Prep, Saturday @ Montgomery College and Sunday @ Hagerstown. All doubleheaders.
