Brooks was a 3-year varsity baseball starter at Northern Garrett High School. In his junior year he hit .489 with 7 homeruns. He was selected to play for Team Maryland in the Maryland Futures Game, along with being selected to first team All-AMAC, first team All- Area, and first team All- Region. In his senior year he was selected to play in the Brooks Robinson Classic at Camden Yards, which was a game with the top players in the state. He also garnered the Cumberland Times News Player of the Year, AMAC Player of the Year, and was selected to first team All-AMAC, All-Area, and All-Region as well. Brooks also was a 3-year starter on the varsity football team where he was selected to the All-Area team twice, as well as earning All-state honors his senior year.
Brooks went on to play for Phil Caruso at Fairmont State University from 2016-2019. He helped lead his team to break many school records, including wins, batting average, RBI’s, homeruns, and multiple playoff appearances. Brooks batted over .300 in two of his four years with 15 career homeruns. He graduated from Fairmont State University in 2019 with a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health Engineering. Brooks also played summer ball in the Virginia Beach Collegiate Baseball League for the Virginia Beach Waves. He was selected as the postseason MVP of the league after his team lost in the championship in 2018.
